Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need counselling or if counselling can help?

Only you can decide whether you wish to try counselling, however talking to a professional confidentially who is not a friend or family member can make all the difference. Sometimes it is hard to imagine how counselling could be of help, but counselling provides a regular time and space for anyone in distress to explore their feelings and talk about their difficulties. Counselling can also help people to develop better coping strategies and improve their quality of life.

How can I be assured of a counsellor’s professionalism and training?

Counsellors at Ayrshire Counselling and Therapy Centre are Registered and Accredited members of a professional body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Their membership status means they are fully qualified and experienced practitioners.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

The number of counselling sessions is flexible and depends on you as an individual with your unique personal circumstances. Some people come for just a few sessions while others may choose to continue on a longer term basis.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

At Ayrshire Counselling and Therapy Centre we aim to offer you an appointment as quickly as possible, and at least within a few days of contacting us.
